Phase I

WHat is No-Code?

"No-code is just programming, at a higher level of abstraction.Instead of expressing computer instructions through symbols and syntax, the no-coder designs and builds solutions with boxes and buttons. It’s software development, in a visual programming language."

From Jeremy Ho

A Brief History of No-code (part 1):

The all-in-one platform and single-function software (the 1990s):

- 1970s: computers were entirely command-line driven; this meant it was only accessed only by people who could code-1980s: graphic user interfaces (GUIs) designed by IBM made it possible to operate basic functions on a computer without code, but most building and using software still did

A Brief History of No-code (part 2):

Extended functionality, plugins, and app ecosystems (the 2000s)

New companies started to provide more apps and plugins that allowed people to easily extend the functionality of their site without code:
- WordPress in 2003
- Salesforce AppExchange 2005
- Apple App Store in 2008
- Shopify App Store in 2009

A Brief History of No-code (part 3):

The ability to build apps without code (the 2010s - Present)

No-code platforms started popping up to empower people to build to build whole apps without code. Even API connections got the no-code treatment and you can build connections and automations without code.

Example apps:
- Bubble for web apps
- Zapier for automations

Are you ready to see where no-code is at today?
